What is WEDA?

The Core Value of WEDA

WEDA handles non-differentiating foundational engineering work, letting developers focus on AI innovation and algorithms—enabling rapid iteration and faster time-to-market.

Overview

WEDA (WISE-Edge Development Architecture) is an integrated software framework designed to accelerate the development of AI+IoT solutions. Unlike traditional IoT platforms that focus on end-to-end applications, WEDA provides a full-stack architecture that enables developers to customize solutions spanning from Edge Hardware to Cloud/Micro Data Centers (MDC).

WEDA Architecture

The Dual-Layer Architecture

WEDA is built on two synergistic layers:

WEDA Cloud

A high-performance backend centered around WEDA Core—a cloud management platform that handles large-scale orchestration. It utilizes Digital Twin protocols and Device Shadow technology to synchronize states across thousands of edge devices.

WEDA Edge

Optimized for low-to-medium power embedded systems. It includes the following components:

  • WEDA Node: A Go-based agent that monitors edge hardware, manages container lifecycles, and relays Digital Twin messages between WEDA SubNodes and WEDA Core.
  • WEDA SubNode: An open-source framework (Python/C#) that enables sensor integration with WEDA Core without requiring Digital Twin protocol knowledge.
  • Device Library: A Python/C# library that simplifies Advantech hardware control by encapsulating low-level C drivers.

  • Ready-to-Dev Containers: Pre-built containerized AI development environments optimized for various hardware platforms, enabling immediate application development without environment setup.
